About Kite Surfing
Phu Quoc is not the best place to quite surf in Vietnam because it does not receive as much wind as Mui Ne or Phan Rang. However it is not impossible to Kite Surf on Phu Quoc. Just remember to bring your own gear as their are no kite surfing shops on the island.
During the dry season, you can surf on the east coast of Phu Quoc as it is much more windier there. Just watch out for jellyfish. During the rainy season, the winds shift and you can surf the west coast however the water is very choppy and not the clearest.
Best Locations
The best places to kite surf in Phu Quoc District are:
- Bai Sao – just watch out for boats.
- Rock Garden – watch out for the large granite boulders.
- Starfish Beach – the journey up here is as much fun as the surfing.
Mui Ne or Phu Quoc?
If you want to kite surf in Vietnam, Mui Ne is the place. However the beaches on Phu Quoc are much nicer!
