Di Tích Nhà Tù Phú Quốc - "Coconut Tree Prison"

The cruelties of war can be revisited at the Phu Quoc Prison, also known as the Coconut Tree Prison, which was once the largest prisoner complex detaining more than 30,000 prisoners back in 1973.  Located in between Bai Sao and Bai Kem, two of the islands white sand beaches, the Phu Quoc Prison is an eye opening and must-see attraction while visiting the island district.  The prison / concentration camp has been decommissioned and is now a national historical site which consists of an indoor war museum and an outdoor prison complex complete with jail cells, mannequins, and escape tunnels all which aim to re-create what life was like here when the prison was in use.

"Gieng Ngu"

The Kings Wells (also known as “Fairy Well” and “Giang Tien” or “ Gieng Ngu”) is a historical site located on Bai Ong Doi in An Thoi Town — part of Mui Ong Doi and next to the luxurious Premiere Village Phu Quoc Resort.  The legend of the magic well is that when Prince Nguyen Anh (later known as Emperor Gia Long) and his troops were hiding on Phu Quoc Island from the Tay Son rebels they were very thirsty and in need of drinking water.  He then stomped his foot down, pointed his sword to the ground, and the water magically erupted.

"Đình Nguyễn Trung Trực"

The Nguyễn Trung Trực temple in Ganh Dau, Phu Quoc is dedicated to the local hero, and temple namesake, who resisted the French invaders in the 1800's.  Local people come here to not only pay their respects but also for the free herbal medicine that is available.  The Nguyễn Trung Trực Phu Quoc Temple was renovated in 2017 in order to accommodate more tourists.

"Khám phá Dinh Cậu Phú Quốc"

The Cau Temple is one of the islands most recognizable landmarks.  A formal temple structure was built in 1937 for Thiên Hậu – “Goddess of the Sea”, however the rocky area was a place of worship for many centuries and is shrouded in mystery.

"Hải Đăng Dương Đông"

The two-toned lighthouse was built in 1993 next to the Duong Dong River and Cau Temple to help guide boats back to the island.  Visitors cannot enter the Lighthouse but can enjoy stunning views of the Duong Dong Town, Dinh Cau Beach, and the famous Phu Quoc sunset from its base. The Phu Quoc Lighthouse stands at 5 meters tall and it is still in operation today.
