Phu Quoc Prison Landmark

Di Tích Nhà Tù Phú Quốc - "Coconut Tree Prison"

The cruelties of war can be revisited at the Phu Quoc Prison, also known as the Coconut Tree Prison, which was once the largest prisoner complex detaining more than 30,000 prisoners back in 1973. Located in between Bai Sao and Bai Kem, two of the islands white sand beaches, the Phu Quoc Prison is an eye opening and must-see attraction while visiting the island district. The prison / concentration camp has been decommissioned and is now a national historical site which consists of an indoor war museum and an outdoor prison complex complete with jail cells, mannequins, and escape tunnels all which aim to re-create what life was like here when the prison was in use.

Martyrs Monument

"Đài tưởng niệm Liệt sĩ nhà tù Phú Quốc" - War Memorial

Phú Quốc Martyrs’ Cemetery

"Nghĩa trang Liệt sỹ Phú Quốc"

Phu Quoc Martyrs’ Cemetery is a place where over 3,000 nameless Vietnamese heroes who lost their lives in and around Phu Quoc have been laid to rest. The cemetery is located just north of Duong Dong Town near the intersection of Cách Mạng Tháng & DT45

King's Well

"Gieng Ngu"

The Kings Wells (also known as “Fairy Well” and “Giang Tien” or “ Gieng Ngu”) is a historical site located on Bai Ong Doi in An Thoi Town — part of Mui Ong Doi and next to the luxurious Premiere Village Phu Quoc Resort. The legend of the magic well is that when Prince Nguyen Anh (later known as Emperor Gia Long) and his troops were hiding on Phu Quoc Island from the Tay Son rebels they were very thirsty and in need of drinking water. He then stomped his foot down, pointed his sword to the ground, and the water magically erupted.

Nguyen Trung Truc Temple

"Đình Nguyễn Trung Trực"

The Nguyễn Trung Trực temple in Ganh Dau, Phu Quoc is dedicated to the local hero, and temple namesake, who resisted the French invaders in the 1800's. Local people come here to not only pay their respects but also for the free herbal medicine that is available. The Nguyễn Trung Trực Phu Quoc Temple was renovated in 2017 in order to accommodate more tourists.

Cau Temple

"Khám phá Dinh Cậu Phú Quốc"

The Cau Temple is one of the islands most recognizable landmarks. A formal temple structure was built in 1937 for Thiên Hậu – “Goddess of the Sea”, however the rocky area was a place of worship for many centuries and is shrouded in mystery.

Phu Quoc Lighthouse

"Hải Đăng Dương Đông"

The two-toned lighthouse was built in 1993 next to the Duong Dong River and Cau Temple to help guide boats back to the island. Visitors cannot enter the Lighthouse but can enjoy stunning views of the Duong Dong Town, Dinh Cau Beach, and the famous Phu Quoc sunset from its base. The Phu Quoc Lighthouse stands at 5 meters tall and it is still in operation today.

Cao Daism is a unique religion found in Vietnam which has its roots in Phu Quoc. Visit this colorful temple located close to the Duong Dong harbor.

Ham Ninh Pier

Hidden in the center of Phu Quoc Island, and one of the most charming ecotourism destinations in the district, the Suoi Da Ban stream tumbles hundreds of meters in a series of filmy cascades through forests of tree-ferns. It is a popular picnicking spot for the island locals.

The Duong Dong Lake in Duong Dong Town, also known as the Duong Dong reservoir, is a large fresh water lake located in Cua Duong commune. This lake provides fresh water (16.500 m³/day) to Phu Quoc Island.

Duong Dong dam

The Duong Dong Dam is located right at the mouth of the Duong Dong Lake and its purpose is to generate hydro electric power.

Hon Mot

A small island located just off the coast of Bai Thom commune. The attraction here is the rustic bridge connecting Hon Mot to Phu Quoc Island.

Ho Quoc

A majestic seaside temple and pagoda compound popular with tour groups. The Chùa Hộ Quốc Trúc Lâm is Phu Quoc's biggest spiritual compound.

Cáp Treo Hòn Thơm

"Phu Quoc Cable Car"

The Phu Quoc Cable Car is a new landmark attraction in Phu Quoc which launched in 2018. It is the world's longest oversea tram which connects the main island of Phu Quoc with the districts second largest island called Hon Thom.

Bãi Trướng
